Participation evening Wednesday 30 July - Westcroft Meeting Centre, 7.30 pm

The participation evening is the one evening when all members can gather together and draw or paint as a group. No need to be shy just bring along your own sketching materials and have a go. You can get advice from more experienced artists or you can simply watch and learn, but then you’ll be sorry if you don’t have something to draw with.

Models have been arranged including one in African tribal dress and possibly a Macmillan Nurse!! Not in stockings and suspenders fellas!!   If anyone out there has a uniform they could lend or even model for us in it that would be great. (Please contact Alf)

The usual coffee and biscuits during the break will give you time to look at what the others have done and chat. Be warned someone may be drawing you drawing !!

Wednesday 25 June - Anthony Slinn

Anthony spoke of 20th Century paintings in decades with his usual aplomb and wit! Very strange that although they were born in the same month and the same year Anthony didn t mention David Hockney who he admires greatly said he was jealous. He ended up talking about his own work and answering questions which prompted him to lead onto other reminiscences. All very insightful and interesting.

In the picture right is Harry (chairman) and Anthony sandwiching Karen Armstrong, who is leaving these shores and MKSA, to teach in Vietnam for 2 years. Vary brave Karen and we wish you all the best. Please keep in touch.

"Probably the most unknown artist in the world."

Critique evening Wednesday August 27th Westcroft Meeting Centre,

7.30 pm with Tony Ashton

One of the highlights of the MKSA year for me. A chance to see if you agree with art expert Tony Ashton while he gives invaluable insight into what makes a good painting and a very personal appraisal of yours. All done with tact and diplomacy. A way of showing you where to go with that painting that you know is not quite right or maybe it is!! Bring along a painting you need help with.

You may have noticed the newsletters have become later and later due to unforeseen circumstances. To catch up we are combining June and July. You will then get your newsletters during the second week of the month, again hopefully.  Sorry if this has messed up your bedtime reading. Have a great summer!... Ed
